Rising country singer-songwriter Trace Nixon released his brand new EP “Hand Me Down Name” on Friday, October 3rd. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.

All of the songs were penned by Nixon, with two songs co-written with Ashley Grant (“Secondhand Hold On Me”) and Nick Nixon [“Ready For The Takin’ (When You Are)”].

It opens with the mid-tempo and refreshing “This Ones For Alan,” where the listener can recall a young George Strait, and it followed by the poignant title track ballad “Hand Me Down Name.” Equally noteworthy is “Secondhand Hold On Me,” which is melodically and vocally stunning (reminiscent of Easton Corbin meets Joe Nichols).

Nixon picks up the tempo with the joyous “Ready For The Takin’ (When You Are),” and it closes with the spitfire and outlaw tune “Love Lost Has Been.”

The Verdict

Overall, Trace Nixon delivers on his new EP “Hand Me Down Name.” Each song on here has its own identity. It is evident that Nixon has an old soul and he deserves to become the next big thing in contemporary country music. Alan Jackson himself would be pleased with this musical effort.

This EP is country as grits, and it garners an A rating. Hopefully, this is a harbinger of more great things to come from Trace Nixon in the future.
