Emmy winner Eric Nelsen sat down and chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about guest starring in “Law & Order: SVU.” His episode will premiere on Thursday, October 8th.
‘Law & Order: SVU‘
On starring in “Law & Order: SVU,” he said, “I’m in the premiere episode of Season 28. It premieres on Thursday. I guest-starred in it, which was a great experience because growing up in New York as a New York actor, it’s the dream of working on ‘Law & Order: SVU.’ The crazy part was that I worked on the original ‘Law & Order’ 18 years ago, and now here I am doing ‘SVU’ all these years later.”
Playing his character in ‘SVU’
On playing his “SVU” character, Nelsen said, “Well, I don’t think the world will love my character. He doesn’t come across as a good guy, but we’ll find out in the episode what happens.”
“It was fun,” he admitted. “It’s fun to kind of stretch yourself and not always play the sweet, funny, romantic interest. It is neat to go against that grain. On a show like ‘SVU,’ you want to make a splash, and the storyline is very prevalent in what is happening in the world right now. So, people will be able to relate to it.”
“There is a lot in the media right now, especially with a big case going on that is very timely with what my episode is about,” he added.
Working with Mariska Hargitay
On working with Mariska Hargitay, he exclaimed, “Oh my gosh, I had multiple scenes with her! Mariska is everything! She treated me like family from day one. She is the support, the backbone, and everything for this show. She has got her hand in every part of that production as a producer and as a star, but you can tell she loves that show. Every single person who comes and works on it is like family to her. It’s just unbelievable to experience that.”
New film ‘Silent Partner’
Nelsen is also a star of the new short film “Silent Partner,” which was directed by Eric Branco. It will have its New York premiere on October 15th in Manhattan.
Working with Elias Kacavas in ‘The Wolf and the Lamb’
Nelsen had great words about working with Elias Kacavas in the film “The Wolf and the Lamb.” “It was great! Elias was incredible. We got to do that western up in Montana together. It was a dark period piece western… a vampire western actually, and it was amazing. The production was phenomenal and it is out now. People can go and watch it on Amazon”
Nelsen remembers Johnny Wactor
Nelsen paid homage to the memory of the late but great Johnny Wactor, who was killed back on May 25th, 2024, due to an attempted catalytic converter theft incident in Los Angeles, California.
“We all loved him, and the mark he made on the world, and not just television, is a thing of beauty. I wish there were more actors and men like him in the industry. It’s is just so sad that we lost him so soon. God rest his soul. Rest in peace, Johnny,” Nelsen concluded.
