Colin Lozano chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about representing Alaska in the 2026 Mister USA competition, which will be held in Las Vegas in mid-July.
Presently, Colin is a model who is living in Miami, Florida.
Mister USA
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment.
It believes in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.
On competing for Mister USA, he remarked, “it’s honestly an honor to be competing for Mister USA, and repping Alaska. I’m very excited.”
On his ties to Alaska, Colin shared, “So, I have an uncle and an aunt that lived in Alaska for a while. I would visit them here and there when I was growing up, but other than that, that’s it.”
Each day, Colin is self-driven. “I think one of my biggest motivators is to be better than I was yesterday, and every day that I wake up is another chance to be better,” he admitted.
On his future plans, he said, “I would hope to one day either start up my own fashion brand, perhaps. I would love to do that. I love fashion or maybe a skincare brand.”
Advocacy on Mister USA
Colin opened up about his advocacy for Mister USA. “So, I really want to raise awareness and to show people the importance of just believing in themselves.”
“I think believing in yourself is probably one of the biggest things that will get you far. When I grew up, personally, I was bullied a lot,” he said. “I was a gymnast at first for a really long time, and I would get bullied a lot… to the point where I had to change schools.”
“So, I always tied on to myself and realized that you are what you believe in. As long as you have the discipline, and you have the correct morals and are grounded in yourself, and have the right goals, then you can really achieve anything you want to do,” he explained.
When asked where he sees himself in the next five years, he revealed, “I see myself as an even bigger model. I’m not a big model now, but I will be one day and I hope to see myself on the cover of some magazine. I would also like to grow my social media as well.”
“Eventually, I would want to start up my own charity for kids to raise awareness on suicide prevention, and to help the kids who got bullied,” he added.
If he were to have any superpower, it would be “mind reading.”‘
Colin on why he should win Mister USA
On why he should win the 2026 Mister USA competition, he said, “I believe that I should win Mister USA because I would be a great advocate not for just the organization, Mister USA, but also everybody else who watches it and sees the men who achieve great things.”
“I would like to think that I could place this seed in other people’s heads that they’re able to do what anybody else can,” he added.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, he said, “Journey to the Top.”
Success
On his definition of success, Colin said, “Success means love, and having love in your life. I think that it’s a privilege to have love around you and support.”
Message for his fans and supporters
For his fans and supporters, Colin said, “Thank you for always believing in me and helping me believe in myself. Thank you for getting me to where I am today. I think one of my biggest supporters would be my dad. I think that he has helped me and my mom as well. My mom has also been a great part of my life.”
Closing thoughts on Mister USA
Colin remarked, “The one thing that I would like my supporters to get from me competing in Mister USA is that anything is possible. Obviously, I also want them to be pleased with me.”
