Out actor Jason Caceres chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about being a part of the 2026 VertiCon, his future plans, and fans.
John F. Kennedy once said: “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” Jason Caceres embodies this wise quote by President Kennedy.
Background on Jason Caceres
Jason is known for playing Jimmy Bennett on “Criminal Minds.” He made his Los Angeles stage debut at the Los Angeles LGBT Center playing Newbie in the West Coast premiere of “Hit The Wall,” a production that gathered multiple accolades. He may also be seen performing in music videos for such diverse musical acts as Five Finger Death Punch, The Vamps, Steve Grand, and Bart Baker.
Jason plays a recurring role in such web series as “Where the Bears Are,” and “How to Survive High School.”
2026 VertiCon
On being a part of the 2026 VertiCon, Caceres remarked, “It is the biggest convention of Vertical filmmakers in Los Angeles. This is the second year we are holding it, and I am so honored to be included. I have, up to this day, performed in 102 vertical dramas.”
“Usually, I play a lot of supporting characters and day players so I was flattered when the producers behind VertiCon reached out to me and asked me to participate,” he said. “I figured the fans would only be interested in meeting with and interacting with the lead characters in these shows. So, imagine my surprise! The support has been incredible and I am so grateful to the viewers,” he elaborated.
“I am incredibly excited! I will be available for meet and greets and photos. I am looking forward to meeting all the fans and learning about them as much as I can,” he added.
Future plans
On his future plans, he shared, “I hope to continue to build my career and work with innovative artists. I love what I do so, for me, the future, hopefully includes more work!”
“It’s funny because when you ask anybody else in most professions, retirement is always in the back of their mind. I can’t see myself retiring from acting. Maybe, taking a step back and producing more but I would always want the ability and the option to jump back in front of the camera,” he elaborated.
“I also hope to keep voicing LGBTQ+ characters,” he noted. “Representation has always been incredibly important to me. When I was growing up, I didn’t get to see a lot of people like me on television. I hope to be a beacon of hope for other queer people. I want to show them that we do exist and, whatever your circumstances may be, you can build a well rounded life for yourself.”
Caceres on Benjamin Bryant
Caceres had great words about Emmy-nominated filmmaker and visionary Benjamin Bryant.
“Benjamin Bryant was an amazing collaborator,” he exclaimed. “He was so respectful and creative. I hope to work with him again in the future. He made me feel safe and respected, which is so important as a queer artist.”
“Benjamin provided the space to explore and express myself in such a freeing and unique way. I truly think the best of him and would love to cross paths again someday,” he added.
Message for his fans
For his fans and supporters, Caceres expressed, “Thank you so much for your support! It truly means the world to me.”
“Art is meant to be experienced so without the fans, we’re just creating in a vacuum. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Please keep watching, please keep supporting art, and definitely support queer art,” he concluded.
