Luke Elsman chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about being a fitness influencer in the digital age. He opened up about his daily motivations, defining moments, and future plans.

St. Jerome once said: “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. ‘Til your good is better and your better is best.” This quote applies to fitness influencer and athlete Luke Elsman.

The digital age

On being a fitness influencer in the digital age, he said, “It has been a trip, for sure. I mean, it depends on what position you put yourself in, right? Also, how many opportunities you take on or open up your own opportunities as well.”

“It has been a roller coaster, but in the best way possible,” he admitted.

On his use of technology in his daily routine, he said, “I film all my short form skits and the comedy things on my cell phone. When it comes to long form YouTube and professional pictures, I either hire a videographer photographer, or I have my own videographer that does my YouTube. Obviously, I use an A7R5.”

Daily motivations

Regarding his daily motivations, he shared, “I would say progression! That’s the same thing that motivates me to get into the gym each day, and it’s the same thing that motivates me to work on bettering my content.”

“Also being consistent with content, working with new brand, taking on newer opportunities. I am just trying to progress in everything. That’s where I seek the most motivation,” he admitted.

“That is the same as getting to that next level. That’s the same thing with weightlifting; breaking a new PR in the gym is the same way I apply myself into the world,” he said.

New Year’s resolutions for 2026

On his New Year’s resolutions for 2026, he said, “I hope to do more lifestyle things. With traveling and other opportunities that I take on, they just keep me going and I am always on a unique day-to-day schedule.”

“I just want to perfect the crafts that I’ve been working on the past few years and keep and keep becoming better at everything and everywhere all around the board,” he added.

Plans for the future

Regarding his future plans, he shared, “I’ve got great sponsorships and I’ve worked with great brands, but I really want to see what that is for me this year. That’s still up in the air.”

“That is something I feel like I need to find within me and stay true to myself. This is what I want to execute, and this is something I want to put all my time into and really focus on,” he added.

Defining moments

Elsman is a firm believer that it is the adverse times that make us stronger.

Regarding his defining moments, he stated, “One of the moments in my life that really defined me was when I went through my first serious injury, where I tore my pec tendon.”

“That was a big deal for me because I’m a weightlifter at heart,” he said. “I always trained in the gym, and I am always in the gym. So that was a big step back because I couldn’t train anymore.

“I was posting on YouTube at the time, but this is before I started doing my comedy material,” he noted. “It was a big determining factor for me because I knew it was going to screw me up a bit mentally, but I couldn’t let it overcome me.”

“That experience allowed me to come back better and stronger,” he added.

The Fagan Twins

He had great words about Deven Fagan and Kiernan Fagan, who are also known as the Fagan Twins. “They are awesome guys,” he exclaimed. “I’ve crossed paths with them on multiple occasions such as expos or sponsored events. The twins are a joy to be around!”

“They always have good vibes, they are smiling, easy to talk to, and easy to relate to. They are really good guys. I am happy with all of the different ventures that they are doing as they are branching into acting and movies. I am wishing the best for them” he said.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “It’s a New Chapter.”

“To be determined… I just bought my first home. I moved in with my girlfriend. I think it’s going to be a big year for us as well. It’s an interesting chapter,” he admitted.

Superpower of choice

On his superpower of choice, he said, “Ever since I was a kid, I was always a Hulk fan. So, I would say super-strength. That would be cool! I was always a Dragon Ball Z and a big Marvel fan as well.”

Advice for hopefuls that wish to start their fitness journey

For people that wish to go into fitness or like to better themselves through fitness, he said, “Just do it! I think the hardest part is just getting to the gym. I go every single day because that’s just who I am. It’s a part of me. I’ll go when I feel I’m my absolute worst or I have absolutely no motivation, but I’ll still end up there, and that’s the hardest part.”

“Then once you’re there, just pick a workout. Hit your first set and get the blood flowing. I think that my advice to anyone getting started is do what you enjoy doing in the gym. Don’t hold yourself to a strict structured diet plan,” he said.

“Eventually, you are going to get really good at one thing, and then, you can outsource to something else, and you can try some new things. It’s all about getting into the gym and getting active. That’s the most important thing, and enjoying it because if you enjoy it, it will last,” he explained.

“You can do so many different things,” he admitted. “There are so many different avenues of fitness, and there is something out there for everyone. I think it’s important to go to the gym and get some activity in.”

“Consistency is key,” he underscored. “No matter what… if you are not consistent with work, you are not going to get anything out of it.”

Success

On his definition of the word success, he seaid, “Success means being able to take care of the people around you. Having a roof over your head, shelter, food and water, is a success. It’s not a stressor, it’s having the essential things you just need to survive and feel good.

“I don’t think the flashy cars, jewelry, or having a bunch of money in the bank is necessarily success for me,” he noted. “Also, feeling good and being happy with what you’re doing. I think it’s really about the simple things in life.”

Message for his fans

For his fans and supporters, he said, “Thank you! I appreciate every single one of my supports because without them, I wouldn’t be able to life the life that I live and do the things that I do… I travel to places, meet new people and do a lot of cool things. It’s all thanks to the people that support me and put me in this position where I can have these cool sponsorships and get to do these photoshoots, and I was able to quit my 9 to 5 job to pursue what I love.”

“I just wish and hope for them to have good health and to stay motivated. Hopefully, I can inspire them and keep on inspiring them. I hope I can make somebody’s day a little bit better because they found my skits funny, or if they are having a bad day, I hope to lift them up. That’s all I want to do,” he elaborated.

“The most important thing I want to tell the fans is that ‘I’m thankful for you guys.’ I’m glad to know that the content I produce can help them in any way, shape or form,” he said, effusively.
