Actors Neven Tomic and Jane Murdoch star in the new ReelShort vertical drama “Mafia Princess Returns.” #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
The synopsis is: After years of torment and abuse from her mafia family, Francesca Adolfi (Jane Murdoch) is given a second chance at life when she’s sent back to age 14, the day she was brought back to her birth father. But this time, she’s not going to make the same mistakes. This time, she chooses to ally herself with the Adolfi’s disgraced eldest son, Enzo (Neven Tomic), and help him retake his place as heir. And by saving him, maybe Francesca can save herself too.
Jane Murdoch is phenomenal as Francesca in a true breakout performance. She is precocious and brings remarkable emotional depth to a character who’s been through unimaginable betrayal while never losing her determination.
Every scene showcases Francesca’s growth from a victim of her family’s cruelty into a fearless strategist who’s ready to rewrite her destiny. Murdoch makes you root for her from the very first episode, balancing vulnerability, intelligence, and quiet strength with effortless charisma. Jane is reminiscent of a young Dakota Fanning.
Neven Tomic is equally outstanding as Enzo. His portrayal is controlled, layered and compelling, transforming a broken, discarded heir into a commanding presence without ever losing the humanity at the character’s core.
Tomic has an undeniable screen presence, and his performance gives Enzo’s redemption arc real emotional weight. Whether he’s delivering quiet, heartfelt moments or standing toe-to-toe with his enemies, he completely owns the role.
What truly elevates the series is the father and daughter chemistry between Tomic and Murdoch respectively. Their evolving alliance feels genuine, heartfelt, and emotionally satisfying, giving the story its beating heart amid all the twists, revenge, and mafia intrigue. Together, they make every victory feel earned and every setback hit harder.
The Verdict
Overall, “Mafia Princess Returns” is an engaging and edgy new vertical series. Jane Murdoch and Neven Tomic deliver transcendent performances that make this one of ReelShort’s most memorable new vertical dramas. It garners two thumbs up.
