Actors Cayman Cardiff and Quincey Szymeczek star in the new Vigloo vertical drama “Under the Hood.” #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.

The synopsis is: After a chance encounter at an auto shop, the wife of a ruthless billionaire, Selene Beaumont (Quincey Szymeczek) falls for an alluring rugged mechanic Jaxon Knoxwood (Cayman Cardiff), who fixes her broken-down car. Their forbidden affair unravels a decades old conspiracy, forcing her to risk everything to bring her husband’s empire down.

Quincey Szymeczek is a revelation as Selene, while Cayman Cardiff is suave and appealing as Jaxon, as well as Selene’s voice of reason when she needs it most. With Cayman Cardiff as Jaxon, the viewer can slightly recall country star Billy Currington (due to his true southern charm, and that ought to be taken as a compliment).

Quincey and Cayman have sizzling chemistry together, and their sincere rapport allows for more resonance. Hopefully, this is a harbinger that Quincey and Cayman will do more microdramas together. The fans will instantly love them from the first episode.

Nic Caruccio plays the nefarious Victor Beaumont quite well, and from the moment the audience meets him, they instantly want to hate/despise this manipulative character from the first episode.

The Verdict

Overall, “Under the Hood” is a high-energy and fun new vertical drama. Quincey and Cayman are magnetic together as they face off Nic Caruccio. They only downside is that it’s quick (and it would have been neat to see some more character development for all the people involved) but regardless, it is feel-good escapism. “Under the Hood” garners four out of five stars. Well done.
