Actor Richard Sharrah chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about his upcoming fan event in the vertical drama space.
He is looking forward to being a part of a forthcoming Meet & Greet event with other GoodShort stars, which include Luke Charles Stafford among some vertical leading ladies. This event will take place on July 24th in Los Angeles.
“We have a dedicated fanbase and following now thanks to our viewers. There is nothing quite like the fans in this space. They push for their favorite actors, and they will watch the verticals on the first day they release, and they would subsequently message me about it. I love the fans so much,” he exclaimed.
“It’s this dedication and this level of fandom. I have never seen anything quite like it,” he admitted. “You can feel their support; it’s palpable. I enjoy doing podcast interviews with fans.”
“While they might not be as successful to get responses from their favorite actors in horizontal legacy media (network TV shows), in vertical land, they will most likely hear from their favorite actors, and they will get a warm embrace from them,” he elaborated.
“I have met so many special people in this vertical space that I would have never met in a million years otherwise. So, I am very, very grateful for that,” he said, effusively.
“Now that I am a part of this vertical world, I want to keep championing it because it is special and unique,” he noted.
Upcoming projects
On his upcoming projects, he shared, “Recently, DramaBox got licensed to TikTok, so I believe TikTok is pushing it now. So, you will start to see these little licensing deals and acquisitions popping around a lot.”
“You can actually follow my work on TikTok and all my other social media pages just people don’t follow the fake accounts,” he said. I’ve heard horror stories about all the fake accounts. It’s sad but it’s also a reality. So, I have a blue checkmark on my Instagram and Facebook, and I’m working to get one for TikTok, but in my posts, you can obviously see that it’s me,” he elaborated.
“I’m the only one that posts new things on TikTok… everybody else just rips it off from me and tries to pretend to be me on TikTok,” he added.
‘After Divorce, I Became My Ex’s Urologist’
Sharrah recalled being a part of the vertical “After Divorce, I Became My Ex’s Urologist” on DreameShort. “If the fans want to laugh their butts off, they should start watching this vertical. It’s the funniest script I’ve ever read,” he admitted.
“I decided to lean more into the comedy of it, and we were just able to knock it out of the park. That is exactly what happened. It came out of the gate, and it was already trending at No. 1 when it was a limited release,” he elaborated.
“So, this is a best-performing vertical and it didn’t even have such a wide release (at that point and it was breaking all the rules because it wasn’t supposed to trend as high as No. 1 as a new release. Once it went wide, it went even more viral,” he added.
For his fans and supporters, he expressed, “I hope they keep watching and I hope they keep sharing. I love them so much! Let’s fight all of the AI things together!”
“There will always be customers that appreciate and love AI movies, which is fine, in the same way that there is a customer segment that enjoys ‘Toy Story 5.’ There are computer animated movies, but AI should not take over the entire market,” he said.
“I think the hardest thing to stomach is to see how the business decisions are getting made at the expense of like what the customer wants,” he observed.
“I always used to praise the space to listen to their customers and give them exactly what they want, and they will see all that on the data. We love our fans,” he exclaimed.
