Singer-songwriter TT chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about his new single “My Dear Woman.”

How did “My Dear Woman” come about?

Sadly, it was about my divorce. She is a wonderful woman and it was a great marriage; we just moved in different directions. Even though the separation was mutual, I felt guilt over our pain, the loss of a true partner, and the shame of divorce. Writing the song became a way to process all the emotions that come with that kind of a loss.

Rather than write from a place of anger, I wanted to write from compassion and appreciation. It’s really a love letter to someone who changed my life, even though our journey together came to an end.

What inspires your music and songwriting?

Creating real world connections with people emotionally and spiritually, and sometimes with fun and/or excitement, as well as storytelling. Music is a way of expressing myself as an introvert and trying to make a positive difference to people and the world.

How does it feel to be an artist in the digital age?

I do not really think about it, because art comes from the heart and that’s all I know how to do. I focus on songwriting and singing, and I have a great team that can do the engineering.

Can you tell us about your upcoming films?

I have completed four films that are in post-production with release dates to be announced soon. The most prominent role that I have completed filming is a movie called “Dustlands”, which is a post-apocalyptic western (drama and action) with Chad Michael Collins, Terrence Howard, Ruby Rose and me.

Additionally, I wrote the theme song for the film, called “Sweet Redemption”, which will be on my next album. I also have a prominent role in a science fiction film, which is scheduled to begin filming in August.

What is your advice for young and aspiring artists?

I do not know how qualified I am to give advice, but if I must, I would say try to have a balance of staying true to yourself, but also be open to help and be humble. To be successful in the entertainment industry, it is not a one-person effort.

What do your plans for the future include?

I am in pre-production and rehearsals for my next film and I co-wrote a script that I am developing and would plan to star in, called “Adam.”

Additionally, as you know, we have released the first single from my next album, “My Dear Woman” and planning 2 or 3 more singles until the album is released in October. The album is called “Dancing on the Ocean” and we are currently scheduling live dates.

What does the word success mean to you?

Success to me is close family (including my ex-wife), good friends, being continuously involved in caring for others, and making a positive difference in the world. Being a volunteer and doing philanthropic work has always been an integral part of my life. I am more concerned with being a good person, than being superficial.

What would you like to say to your fans about your new single and films?

Mostly, I hope they like it!! Ha! This next album has songs of pain, guilt, and unrequited love, but also fun, self-confidence, and standing up for equality. It is diverse as it moves from simple and orchestrated ballads to up-tempo pop/rock (maybe a little Americana mixed in). I’ve got a really exciting stretch of projects coming up.

I recently wrapped four films that are currently in post-production, with release dates expected to be announced soon. The biggest is Dustlands, a post-apocalyptic Western that blends action and drama, where I share the screen with Chad Michael Collins, Terrence Howard, and Ruby Rose.

It was an incredible experience, and what made it even more special was being able to contribute musically as well. I wrote and recorded the film’s theme song, “Sweet Redemption,” which will appear on my upcoming album.

On top of that, I’m preparing to start filming a new science fiction feature this August, which is another exciting opportunity to explore a completely different world as an actor.

I love being able to move between music and film because each creative outlet inspires the other, and this next chapter really reflects that.
