Actor, model and performer George Swift sat down and chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos priro to his show at The Paramount in Huntington, New York, with the Chippendales.

Hindu spiritual and yoga teacher Swami Sivananda once said: “Put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the secret of success.”

On performing at The Paramount on Long Island, he exclaimed, “It’s a blessing and an amazing opportunity! I’m happy to be here. I know that a lot of these guys have been here before, but this is my first year and I’m very excited.”

Chippendales family

On being a part of the Chippendales family, he remarked, “It’s a blessing to be a part of the Chippendales. They’ve wanted me to be a part of it for a while now, and I regret not taking the opportunity the first time around. So, I’m glad I’m doing it now.”

“Honestly, the camaraderie with the boys is great,” he admitted. “I think that’s one of my favorite parts… just hanging out with the guys in Chippendales, and the brotherhood. No matter where we go, we have each other’s backs, and we just have a ball wherever we go. It is always a blast performing for the audiences in every single different demographic.”

Daily motivations

Regarding his daily motivations, he shared, “Honestly, I think just waking up and trying to be the best human I can. I want to just be humble and down to earth, and not carry a chip on my shoulder and I just want to be a good person.”

Future plans

On the future World Tour dates with the Chippendales, he said, “We just got word of other places that we are excited to go. Everywhere we’ve been so far has been amazing. There are a lot of firsts for me. I just got my passport not even a year ago. So, being able to travel internationally is amazing. I went to Canada about three weeks ago and that was a blast.”

George on whether or not he is related to Taylor Swift

While he does not have any known relationship to global pop superstar Taylor Swift, he jokingly noted that he would like to think of her as a “second cousin.” “I wish, there is no relationship at all, but I’ll take being ‘second cousins’ with her,” he said.

The digital age

On being a performer in the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology and social media are so prevalent, George said, “It makes it easier for the audience and people to get a grip of us, and obviously it makes it a lot easier to promote, publicize and market things. So, I feel like it’s a huge benefit and it’s a win-win for everyone. It’s awesome.”

Importance of mental health in the digital age

On the significance of mental health in the digital age, George said, “Mental health is so prevalent right now. That’s the topic everywhere you go. Seeing people post about their mental health on platforms (where they voice their opinions) can be both a good thing and a bad thing. It’s a double-edged sword.”

“I feel there are some things that need to stay behind closed doors, but it’s also a really good opportunity for people to voice themselves,” he noted. “I’m kind of indifferent about it, but it’s a good thing when people who don’t have anybody to turn to, they can turn to social media to help them in that way. So, that’s a positive.”

Moments that have helped define him

When asked about his career-defining moments, he responded, “I feel like the adverse moments define people more than the ups. Adversity makes us strong. Adversity molds people. Just like everybody else in the world, I have gone through some challenging things, and it has made me the best person I can be and I’m proud of who I am.”

Advice for young and aspiring performers

For young and emerging performers, George encouraged them not to hesitate. “If this is something that you want to do with your life when it comes to performing or in any aspect of that way, just go for it. Don’t hesitate. Jump and make the make that leap of faith,” he suggested.

You only have this one life, and there are no restarts. There is no coming back to try again. So, just go for it.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “The Great Unknown.” “I think I am in a transitional phase, which is exciting and a good thing,” he said.

Success

Success, to me, personally means having the best relationship we can with the people around you. Starting with family. God is a huge part of my life. I am a man of faith.

Having faith is important, and having a strong relationship with the Lord is a huge part of me and that makes me feel like a successful human being every day.

Also, having a relationship with my father and being always an ear for him and vice versa. If I can be there for him and him for me, then that’s a win in my book all day.

Message for the fans

For Chippendales fans and supporters, George said, “Thank you for all the love and support you show us everywhere we go. Thanks for coming to Las Vegas and for making us a part of your itinerary each time. That is such a blessing. We are all access to the fans and no matter what, we are theirs, baby!”

“We are so grateful for each and every one of you guys, and we love you just as much as you all love us. So again, thank you for the love and support,” he said, effusively.

DJ Sandra Dee remarked, “George Swift is a fabulous and talented performer who has a great outlook on life, and he surrounds himself with what is important in his life… family, friends, and God.”
