Veteran actor Kim Estes chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about his 2026 Primetime Emmy nomination for “Big Law.” He is up for “Outstanding Performer in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.”
In 2017, Estes previous won the Emmy for “Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series” for his performance in “Dicks.”
2026 Primetime Emmy nod
On his latest Primetime Emmy nod, he remarked, “It feels phenomenal! All the work paid off and now we can move on towards the final round of voting.”
He opened up about playing his character, Boyd Bennett, in “Big Law.” “Boyd Bennett is very much a strait-laced, protocol driven lawyer who likes to keep things in order. Handling the pressure of dealing with the firm’s clients is his business,” he said.
Lessons learned from ‘Big Law’
On the lessons learned from “Big Law,” he reflected, “It taught me that there are good people in the universe, with good intentions and at the same time, keep your head on swivel because there are other interesting people out in the Universe that may want to change your expected/predicted outcomes.”
The digital age
On being an actor in the digital age, he said, “I am open to explore what the digital age might bring. Cautious and aware that change is a constant variable – and that is hard for some to bear.”
Future plans
Regarding his future plans, he shared, “Being available for the friends in the business of production and collaborating with them on projects that have the ability to influence the next generation.”
Advice for young and emerging actors
For young and aspiring actors, he said, “Be open, be respectful, be brave, be bold and be prepared.”
Success
Regarding his definition of success, he said, “Success means to have the ability to give back, the have the ability to empower, to have the ability to inspire and to have the ability to share the process and power of independent film-making.”
Message for his fans
For his fans, Estes expressed, “Thank you for your support and thank you for joining me on this journey. We are swingin’ for the fences!”
