Emotional Intelligence and systems coach, Lucia G. Onieva, offers a profound way to increase and create the desired results in any area of your life. The key is focusing first on individual, emotional, and mindset alignment, balance, and growth.
Lucia states “there is no separation between our internal and our external worlds. To create a solid game plan that sustains the results we desire long term, we must first take the time to identify the patterns and behaviors that are holding you back from achieving the results we want, gain clarity of the root of such patterns and limiting beliefs that trigger the emotions within the anger spectrum (frustration, anger, anxiety, stress…), understand and manage those emotional patterns, then question what we are basing our next course of action on to truly align ourselves with our core values and with our unique vision.”
Identifying, Understanding and Managing Our Emotions To Start Living Your Dream Life
Onieva said that you must first be clear with where you want to go with your vision. “To achieve what you want in life, you have to get to know the root of who you are and establish what you really want. Do not embark on your journey without setting your desired direction as, without it, your life will just drift around and most likely will not get you the results you want to experience along your path,” Onieva explained.
Onieva noted that most people have what Tony Robbins called the Niagara Syndrome. Onieva said that Robbins compared life to a river, and he remarked that most people will jump on the river of life without ever deciding where they want to go. As a result, people go with the flow until they realize that they are only a few feet away from falling into the Niagara Falls. “The reality is that most people do not have a clear picture of where they want to end up in the phase of life they are currently on. They are still unsure of what they want to accomplish, and they end up bitter and feeling unfulfilled, not knowing how to get out of that space,” she added.
“Gaining clarity of your purpose and goals will help you focus on the path you choose to take,” Onieva emphasized. Onieva narrated that it took her five years to realize and come to understand that the corporate world job was not the life that she had always dreamed of. “I was living in NY, acing my job, and having an epic time with some of the people today I take as my family. But then it hit me… Although I was technically living a life that in the eyes of what we consider the norms of society was accepted and proven to be successful, I wasn’t happy and did not find reward or full satisfaction from it. So I took the time to reconnect with my roots, pivot my action game plan and focus my entire life experience based on my lifelong passion and desired vision: to support other individuals along their journey as they start living the life they have always desired by focusing on emotional alignment and training their mindsets to perform at their peak. And this is why I moved to the jungle and I successfully built my business around my passion and vision now coaching individuals, entrepreneurs, and anyone who is ready to take ownership of the driver’s seat and life the best version of their very own life,” she added.
Why Gaining Clarity Of Your Core Values Is Key
Core values refer to the fundamental beliefs of a person that influence behavior. It helps individuals determine if they are traversing the right path and serve as a guide in fulfilling their goals. “By understanding the values that are unique to you, you are able to understand who you really are as an individual or who you want to be and provides an opportunity to increase your self-motivation and engagement to stay focused on your game plan to achieve your life goals,” she noted.
Onieva’s core values revolve around alignment, action, achievement, commitment, accountability, growth, and support. It is the reason why early in her life, she worked with children, did volunteer work for a non-government organization that is helping disadvantaged children in Cambodia for years, and today successfully runs her coaching business.
The Art Of Perception: Who’s Vision Of Your Reality Are You Basing Your Life On?
“Get in the habit of questioning and challenging everything you think you know and everything you think defines you as an individual to outline the guidelines on which you have always based your way of living. Then ask yourself if those values and guidelines belong to you or not and if the actions you have been taking based on such have created the results you cherish,” She says.
The way we perceive life is unique to us. It is based on all the programming we have encoded in our brains since childhood. “Most of us aren’t even conscious of such programming. We have it so embedded within ourselves that we are unaware of what that programming is. We assume it is part of our reality and base all of our decisions on it, therefore, creating more of what that so-thought reality is to us.” Onieva says.
She continues, “When I left NYC to spend 2 years in the Caribbean Mexican jungle on my own, I got in the habit of questioning the reason behind my actions and understanding the root of it. I realized that most decisions I had taken along my life were based on the desire to fit in in a world where I felt challenged by all its norms and some of its values. I had always struggled with finding my nook within the world I grew up in and found every step along my way to be always challenging and never truly fulfilling.”
Resistance Creates Resistance
“The more you avoid looking at what the cause of you experiencing a life that is not satisfying to you is, you don’t take the time to understand if and why your emotions are controlling the actions and outcome of your life, the deeper you will recreate and experience those unwanted results, fall into repeating emotional patterns of anger, frustration, and stress, and trigger your body’s “fight or flight” response causing you to react impulsively on such emotions losing sight and alignment with what you truly want to accomplish.” Onieva Says
“Now, I’m not telling you that once you learn how to understand, manage, and leverage your emotions those feelings of stress, anger, and frustration disappear. What happens is that, as those emotions arise next time you are in an unwanted situation, you will have the capacity to identify the root of them and set a course of action that is signed with the results you want.” She says.
According to some mental health data, 36% of all adults who reported stress in the previous year cited either their own or a friend/relative’s long-term health condition as a factor. This rose to 44% of adults over 55. 51% of adults who felt stressed reported feeling depressed and 61% reported feeling anxious. 37% of adults who reported feeling stressed reported feeling lonely as a result. 60% of 18-24-year-olds and 41% of 25-34 year people have higher stress related to the pressure to succeed.
Onieva says that investing in oneself is the best way to ensure that you find balance, clarity, happiness, health, and live a fulfilled life long term in a sustainable manner. “Seeking for support is a sign of strength and the most empowering decision you can make.”
“So here comes my next question to you…
What really is success and what does a successful life feel and look to your unique self if nothing in your world mattered right now?”
Onieva’s parting words for all individuals who want to experience a life of fulfillment are this: “Your current life reflects who you are today or who you no longer want to be. It is essential to invest in oneself to create a harmonious relationship between you, your purpose, and the results you want to live.”
