Earlier this week SoundCloud released “The SoundCloud Playback“, their musically compelling end-of-year overview. Music discovery from emerging and established creators drives ‘The SoundCloud Playback,’ which is a platform powered by fans and communities, and the opposite of expected mainstream round-ups.
In the SoundCloud Playback, you’ll find the year’s top artists, tracks, biggest debuts, hottest hits, and engaging moments between artists and fans. Having the most fan engagement on SoundCloud in 2021, YoungBoy Never Broke Again takes the top spot as he continues to release hit after hit and continues to release hit after hit. Polo G‘s global impact is very well documented, with it ranking on three of SoundCloud’s top charts — Longest Run for the most consecutive weeks on SoundCloud’s charts, Hit of the Year with the most fan plays, and Hardest Hit with the most engagement of all drops in the first 24 hours. As one of six new categories this year, SoFaygo‘s year contains a lot of many memorable moments including his live show debut, being the most listened to Independent Artist, and his first live show.

In addition to their most played tracks of the year on the SoundCloud Playback, fans can now view and listen to their personalized 2021 Playback. There are now more deeply curated playlists built by fan listening in “Your Playback” and those include “Your Top Artists of 2021”, “Hidden Gems”, and “Independent Artists You Powered in 2021”. The first option enables you to see your most-listened-to artists, while “Hidden Gems” features a playlist of undiscovered songs to enjoy in the coming year. Last but not least, subscribers to SoundCloud Go and SoundCloud Go+ can see what independent artists they benefited from fan support in the playlist, “Independent Artists You Powered In 2021”.
