John Lennon wrote ‘best Beatles song lyrics’ about his first wife

But Lennon confessed he peaked lyrically in 1969 when he wrote a song for a charity compilation album: No One’s Gonna Change Our World. For their contribution to the album – which also included such artists as Lulu, Cilla Black, and Rolf Harris – The Beatles included the song Across the Universe.</p></div><div readability=”49″><p>The psychedelic Across the Universe was featured on the aforementioned compilation record but was later included in the band’s final album, Let It Be, a year later.</p><p>The same year, in 1970, Lennon was asked in an interview what his favourite Beatles tracks were. He revealed his top five were: Strawberry Fields Forever, I Want To Hold Your Hand, I Am The Walrus, Girl and Across The Universe.</p><p>He then went into some detail about the track. He said: “It’s one of the best lyrics I’ve written. In fact, it could be the best. It’s good poetry, or whatever you call it.”</p></div><div readability=”52.859788359788”><p>Lennon continued: “See, the ones I like are the ones that stand as words, without melody. They don’t have to have any melody, like a poem, you can read them.”</p><p>Although Across the Universe is full of emotionally visceral lyrics and a mystical tone, it was actually borne from a dreadful argument he had with his wife at the time, Cynthia.</p><p>Lennon married Blackpool local Cynthia in 1962 and had a son with her, Julian Lennon. Six years later, Lennon met <a data-link-tracking=”InArticle|Link” href=”https://www.express.co.uk/latest/yoko-ono” target=”_blank”>Yoko Ono</a>, divorced Cynthia, and married the artist in 1969. She must have been going on and on about something and she’d gone to sleep and I kept hearing these words over and over, flowing like an endless stream.”</p><p>Sound familiar?</p><p>The incredible first lyrics to Across the Universe were inspired by this exact moment. I don’t own it you know; it came through like that.”</p><p>Although Across the Universe has gone down as one of The Beatles’ most famous songs, it never won any awards – but it was shot into the galaxy. </p></div><div readability=”40.841379310345″><p>Across the Universe was not released as a single by the band, but its legacy has lived on past even some of the band members, before being used by NASA. </p><p>Across the Universe was transmitted towards the star Polaris, approximately 431 light-years away from Earth. This was the first time a song had ever been intentionally transmitted into deep space. ‘You’re a real b*****d!’ Katharine Hepburn refused to work with John Wayne

His strong political views meant that he fell out with a number of Hollywood stars, including Hepburn, who turned down a movie because Wayne was in it.</p></div><div readability=”43″><p>In 1953 Wayne was looking for a leading lady to join him in the Western film Hondo. Hepburn, who was at the height of her fame, was approached for the role, but quickly decided against it because of the star’s connection with the HUAC. The role of Angie Lowe was eventually taken on by American star Geraldine Page, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance.</p><p>20 years later, however, Hepburn changed her mind.</p></div><div readability=”35.340380549683″><p>Wayne and Hepburn starred in the 1975 movie Rooster Cogburn together. Fortnite 19.30 update PATCH NOTES, downtime, Uncharted crossover, Treasure Maps and more

The new Fortnite update has a February 15 launch date and a 9am GMT release time for fans living in the UK. Needless to say, as a numbered update, the new patch will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which is expected to run until 10.30am GMT. The exciting new update will add the previously announced Uncharted items, as well as the return of Treasure Maps. Next Star Wars film ‘signs Force Awakens star for new projects’

Now, it looks like the last remaining Jedi will be making a comeback.</p></div><div readability=”41″><p>A newly released report says Rey star Daisy Ridley will be returning to the ongoing Star Wars universe. According to this report, Ridley has “signed on for three” upcoming Star Wars projects.</p><p>This enormous news means Rey will be returning to screens to continue her journey as the final (known) Jedi in the galaxy. The end of her story in TROS left her wandering into the desert with a yellow lightsaber and a new name – but who knows what is going to come next?</p><p>Thankfully, this report also came with some extra news about Ridley’s deal. This means Rey could make an appearance in any three Star Wars properties. All of the original trilogy characters have been killed off, and some of the sequel trilogy stars have moved on or been killed off as well – so who is left?
