James Bond favourite Henry Cavill on ‘fleshing out’ Superman

When Henry Cavill came onto the scene as Clark Kent – otherwise known as Superman – in the 2013 film Man of Steel, he became an overnight sensation. Although he reprised his role as the caped hero in both Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, he has not received a solo movie since.

Earlier this year rumours suggested Cavill had been ousted from the DC Comics series, as the production company – Warner Brothers – was looking for a new actor to take his place.

For now, it isn’t clear if Cavill has truly been axed from the role, but the British star still wants to make a return.

Speaking in a recent interview, he revealed: “I was very keen on really fleshing out Superman’s early stages of his journey first.

During Justice League, the Anti-Life Equation was introduced, which would have sent Superman into a vicious rampage against the other heroes in the universe.

This storyline would have shown Kal-L in a new light – something Cavill still wants to do.

He continued: “If he were to succumb to the Anti-Life Equation and become bad Superman, I really wanted to make sure we saw the hero Superman, and we saw the true symbol of hope, the beacon of light before we went down the path of darkness and then redemption.

“It’s still something I’m very keen to flesh out.”

Despite having great odds on returning to the role of Superman, he also has fantastic odds on becoming one of the most iconic cinematic heroes of all time: James Bond.

Ladbrokes reported Cavill is currently the most popular actor in the betting list to become 007 after Daniel Craig‘s final film, No Time To Die.

Currently, the 38-year-old is third in the running with 6/1 odds on becoming Bond.

He follows the favourites Regé-Jean Page and Tom Hardy, both of whom have 4/1 odds on taking the role.

Cavill is joined by Tom Hopper and James Norton who both have 6/1 on the role.

Elsewhere in the odds is Game of Thrones and Eternals hero Richard Madden.

The Scottish star has now claimed 8/1 odds on becoming 007 in the near future.
