Jayson Tucker sat down and chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos prior to his show at The Paramount in Huntington on Long Island with the Chippendales.

On performing at The Paramount, Jayson exclaimed, “It feels absolutely awesome to be back at The Paramount. The entire team, the crew, the staff and everyone here, year after year, has been so lovely and supportive.”

“They really go all out for this show,” he admitted. “For us to be able to come back each year and continue to be welcomed back is just an amazing feat, for sure.”

Jayson on celebrating nine years with the Chippendales

Presently, being with the Chippendales for nine years, he has achieved veteran status joining the ranks of such iconic performers as Billy Jeffrey and Jon Howes.

“It feels amazing to follow up in those shoes such legends as Billy and Jon and to be with the company for so long now,” he said.

“Honestly, I never thought that I would make it this far. I thought this was going to be a quick two years, but I fell in love with these guys, the team, and the brand itself,” he noted.

“Chippendales has been so amazing and so supportive of everything that I’ve brought to the table,” he said. “They have given me my free range to be who I am hosting this show and putting my own twist and my spin on things, and this is something that I would have never imagined in a million years.”

“So, to still be trucking and to be in that veteran legend status, is just an amazing feeling,” he added.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “Continuous Growth!”

“I’m continuing to learn, to develop my craft and continuing to push myself because one can never stop learning,” he said.

Future plans

On his future plans, he shared, “I’ve been with the Chippendales for nine years now, and I would love to continue to ride this wave as long as they have me. In the future, I would like to be a red carpet correspondent… that would be a great goal. “

“I would also like to really transition into production management and produce events as well as casting,” he added.

Jayson on Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees

Jayson had great words about Jeff Timmons, the founding member of the boy band 98 Degrees. “I love Jeff. I’m actually friends with a lot of guys from boy bands. Lance Bass is a really good friend of mine too. I am honestly inspired to be friends with them and to be around them and in Las Vegas.”

“16-year-old Jayson would have never thought that I would have personal relationships with some of the guys in these boy bands (that I used to look up to),” he acknowledged. “Jeff is really amazing. Jeff is such a genuine and great human, and you can really just soak up all his knowledge from his career and his success.”

Defining moments

On his defining moments, he shared, “Honestly, if there’s a moment in life throughout my career that defined me, it was something that I learned when I was working at Disney… is that we take every day and we give it our all no matter what we’re going through.”

“People that come and see these shows sometimes save their life savings to see us. So, for us, we get out there and we give 100 percent… the best show that we possibly give… that is always the main goal because this is something some fans may never be able to do again or see again or afford again,” he elaborated.

Advice for young and aspiring performers

For young and emerging dancers and performers, Jayson said, “Just get out there, continue to hone your craft, learn your brand, learn who you are, and push yourself. There is nothing better than walking into an audition room, knowing who you are, knowing the product that you can deliver, being confident in that, and selling that.”

Success

On his definition of the word success, Jayson said, “Success, to me, means being able to wake up every day, and do something that I love.”

“I want to get out there, put smiles on people’s faces, change their lives, and change the moments that they’re having, whether it is something great or something bad that they’re going through. That, to me, is success,” he explained.

Message for the fans

For the Chippendales fans and supporters, Jayson said, “Thank you so much for all of the support over the 18 years of my professional dance career.”

“Honestly, I would not be here without you and I’m so thankful and so blessed each day to wake up to do something that I love and to be able to share it with all of you. So, thank you,” he said, effusively.

Closing thoughts on Chippendales

Jayson remarked, “The one thing I want people to get out of Chippendales is to come see our show. Don’t have any expectations because a lot of people come to the show thinking it’s going to be raunchy or whatever it may be.”

“Come to the show with no expectations. Come let your hair down and come enjoy yourselves. We here to give you an experience that is going to make you leave feeling warm, excited, sexualized, energized, and honestly, it’s all about feeling good,” he elaborated.

“So, just let your walls down, let those inhibitions go, and just have a great time,” he concluded.
