After appearing on NCIS as Special Agent Tony DiNozzo, Michael left the CBS procedural after 13 seasons and joined Bull in 2016. However, after posting a series of tweets Micheal has announced his sudden departure from the CBS drama.
Micheal Weatherly took to Twitter to share his statement about quitting his role as Dr Jason Bull.
The actor wrote: “Hello all! It’s been my privilege to play Dr Jason Bull but after 6 Seasons of incredible storylines, I’ve decided it’s time to pursue new creative challenges and bring his story to a close.
“It has been an honor to work with this talented cast, crew, and writing/producing team who helped reinvent the legal drama.
“Stay tuned for a big series finish…Thanks to all the fans from the bottom of my heart. You will always be a part of our Bull family,” he concluded.

Michael has led the cast of Bull since the show first premiered on CBS in September 2016.
His character Dr Jason Bull was a psychologist and “trial science” expert, With the signature ability to get his clients free.
Jason was a loved character because he used his skills, alongside those of his team to select the right jurors for his clients and help his clients’ lawyers decide which type of argument will win over jurors best.
However, with an ongoing internal investigation at Bull, season seven was yet to be confirmed or cancelled.
However, Micheal’s exit was the only recent and sudden departure from the Bull series.
In May 2021, a shakeup was first announced when Showrunner Glenn Gordon Caron and co-star Freddy Rodriguez’s leave was first reported.
In the series, Freddy played Benny Colon, a former prosecutor and a part of Jason’s jury consulting firm.
In a CBS statement, the character was written out: “Benny is blissfully happy in Rome, singing ‘Mi Amore’ to his Italian bride.”
Both Glenn and Freddy bid adieu to the show following an internal investigation by producer CBS Studios.
While the network has refused to comment further, it was reported by TV Line, the investigation first came about after a number of writers quit the show when it wrapped production on Season 5.
They had accused the departed showrunner of “fostering a disrespectful work environment.”
The allegations stated Caron was callous and often berated the writing staff, which led to Caron’s overall deal with CBS Studios being terminated.
Michael has also previously found himself in hot water with CBS when his co-star Eliza Dushku accused him of sexual harassment in 2018.
While her character was written off the series, the actress was able to reach a settlement with the network.
