Producer for the series Alex Kurtzman, along with showrunner Michelle Paradise, recently chatted with Deadline, and confirmed Burnham’s first run as captain will be far from perfect.
Kurtzman revealed: “Burnham started from a place of making mistakes, and she’ll continue to make mistakes. But that’s okay, you can still be captain and make mistakes.
“Just because she’s in the chair doesn’t mean her journey is over. A brand new journey is really beginning.”
Discovery’s first season kicked off with a huge catastrophe for the Federation, so Burnham could put even more lives in danger now the rebellious captain has her own crew to manage.
