BBC Breakfast meteorologist Carol Kirkwood had been explaining to viewers what they could expect from the weather this week and had wrapped up the report when Naga Munchetty voiced an observation made by co-presenter Charlie Stayt about Carol’s dress. Expanding on why he was distracted, Charlie asked if Carol had deliberately planned to coordinate her dress with the visuals of the weather forecast, and commented that he approved of the decision.
As she completed one of the broadcasts, Carol, sporting a blue dress with white dots, handed back over to hosts Charlie and Naga.
The latter cut in though to ask a question about her colleague’s outfit.
“Carol,” the host asked as the meteorologist replied: “Yes?”
Naga continued: “When the weather is like that, I wanted to ask because Charlie noticed, your kind of almost like the weather forecast today, you’re wearing what the weather forecast is.”
Laughing and looking puzzled, Carol remarked: “Thank you, Charlie.”

“Well it’s like either snowdrops or raindrops or something on your blue dress, it’s like you incorporated somehow into the weather forecast,” Charlie explained.
He quickly added to Carol: “I approve of that, by the way.”
The 59-year-old responded: “You flatter me, aw Charlie, you flatter me.
“Sadly, there’s not that much thinking that goes into it, it’s what’s ironed!”
“Okay,” Charlie laughed, adding: “Or semi-ironed, either way, whatever.”
“What are you saying?” Carol gasped, jokingly offended by Charlie’s remark.
Moving on with the programme, Naga chined: “Exactly, there you go, Charlie.”
“Thanks, Carol, we’ll see you later on,” Charlie announced.

Charlie wasn’t the only person to be distracted by Carol’s choice of clothing, though.
Twitter user Steve Best wrote: “I see Carol is blending with her weather map today! @BBCBreakfast.”
Posting a photo of Carol during her report, Graham Mundy penned: “@TVNaga01 has @carolkirkwood
found herself an Olympic skier to help with the animations on @BBCBreakfast weather?”
“#BBCBreakfast Weather with the lovely Carol a proper forecast,” Mickeh7 commented.
Others asked the well-known reporter for good weather news as wintery conditions continue.
Patsy Parker chimed: “Please tell me it’s not going to be windy Carol!
“My cans bin is due out, don’t want them blowing all over the street! It’s sooooo embarrassing especially when it’s the lager ones.” (sic)
Carol has been the main weather reporter on the show for several years after joining the BBC in 1998.
