Clara Amfo and Aljaz Skorjanec were told their time on Strictly Come Dancing had come to an end after judges voted to save Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer. The judges were split over their decision but Motsi Mabuse pointed out the BBC Radio 1 presenter had made a “mistake” in her dance-off routine as she opted to save Jamie and Karen.
The BBC Radio 1 presenter found herself at the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard last night and her dance-off performance failed to keep her spot in the competition.
Clara received just 19 points from the judges for her Jive after admitting she’d forgotten some of the routine.
Jamie and Karen found themselves joint fourth on the leaderboard with their Tango being awarded 24 points.
Once both couples had danced again, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas revealed who they wanted to save.
Shirley said: “Well this is a very difficult series, I mean every couple is outstanding and I felt on this occasion that both couples totally lifted their game but there was one couple they just convinced me.
“They had conviction from step to step, they believed in their performance and therefore I’m going to save Jamie and Karen.”
Opening up on her time on Strictly, Clara said: “I’ve had the best time ever, the best time ever and got a new friend for life.
“I’ve loved it, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever, ever done, it’s been a dream come true.”
Aljaz added: “First I’m really gutted. All I really want to tell you is I’m so happy we got to do Lady Clamalade, the Claraston, which I’ve never done before in my life.
“You are a dream to be around, you’re a beautiful girl inside out, I hope that people at home got to see that.
“This series has been so special and it’s only because of you, thank you so much. I’m going to miss dancing with you.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday at 7:25pm.
