Cole Sprouse spoke with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos on “The Long Haul” red carpet of the Tribeca Film Festival.
Cole discussed starring in “The Long Haul” movie, where he plays the role of Junior opposite three-time Emmy winner Margo Martindale as CJ. The film was written and directed by David Drake as part of his feature directorial debut.
The synopsis is: CJ (Margo Martindale), a seasoned truck driver who has spent her years traversing the American Southwest, has meticulously constructed a life of distance from her past. However, a letter from the parole board threatens to dismantle the walls she has painstakingly built. CJ, facing the prospect of retirement and a reckoning she has evaded for years, must finally find the courage to pause and contemplate her future.
On playing his character, Cole remarked, “Well, the version of Junior that we see is not really a very likable individual, but deep down, I think that he is quite a sensitive person.”
“Junior is living in the shadow of his father, and he is grappling with that. I think that’s something that quite a lot of people can relate to,” he acknowledged.
On the lessons learned from “The Long Haul” screenplay, Cole reflected, “Well, this is a story about grief, and how we deal with grief… you arrive when you’re supposed to.”
