The former Coronation Street star, who played cobbles villain Josh Tucker on the ITV soap, is set to appear on the Waterloo Road reboot later this year. The actor announced the news to his thousands of social media followers. He also revealed he will be playing a character named Mike in the reboot of the BBC series.

Waterloo Road bosses have announced a host of actors joining the cast in recent months as well as a few returning faces.

So far, it has been confirmed Coronation Street stars Kym Marsh, Sonia Ibrahim, Angela Griffin and Rachel Leskovac will be joining the reboot.

Ryan looks as though he is the latest former cobbles character to join the cast after posting a photo on his social media.

The star shared a picture of a door with a Waterloo Road sign on it on his Twitter, with the caption “Day one”.

Mike is set to be a semi-regular character in the upcoming drama, a spokesman for the show stated.

However, it is not yet known whether Mike will be a “good character or a baddie”.

Many of Ryan’s fans commented on his announcement but the actor said “only time will tell” whether his character is evil or not.

His followers congratulated the star on landing the role, with Candy Ekanoye tweeting: “So glad you going to be in Waterloo Road. I wish you a successful journey. Cannot wait to see you in action.”

Ryan’s BBC announcement comes after actress and presenter Kym was confirmed to play a school canteen worker and a mother of two pupils at Waterloo Road called Nicky Walters.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the fabulous cast of Waterloo Road, it’s such a joy to get the opportunity to film in Manchester again and I can’t wait to get going,” Kym said about her casting.

Rachel, who was recently killed off at Natasha Blakeman on Coronation Street, was also thrilled to be joining Waterloo Road.

At the time of the announcement, she Tweeted: “I am beyond excited to be joining the amazing cast, playing Head of English ‘Coral Walker’ – Miss Walker to you!!! In the iconic show that is @waterlooroad, it’s gonna be mega!”
