GTA 6 for PS5 Showcase event? All signs points to a next-gen Rockstar reveal

Viewers of the imminent PS5 Showcase event are in store for a surprise or two when the broadcast airs on September 16.

Not only is Sony expected to announce the PS5 release date, price and pre-order information, but the company is also likely to reveal a smattering of new games for the next generation of hardware.

If the rumours are to be believed, this includes a Silent Hill reboot, as well as a sequel to PlayStation All-Stars.

There’s even talk of a brand new Rockstar Games reveal, as new evidence points toward an imminent announcement.

As pointed out on Reddit, Rockstar doesn’t currently have a pinned tweet, which is usually a sign that the company is about to announce something new.

The PS5 Showcase event would be the perfect time to make a big announcement, so there’s a good chance we’ll hear more from Rockstar during the event.

Rockstar kicked off the previous PS5 Showcase event by confirming plans to bring GTA 5 to next-gen consoles.

While most fans believe today’s announcement will be for a Red Dead 2 PS5 port, the company could go one better by finally unveiling GTA 6.

Previous rumours have suggested GTA 6 will be set in the 1970s or 1980s, and feature a single playable protagonist.

Likewise, the next Grand Theft Auto game will allegedly take place in Vice City and Rio de Janeiro.

As for the PS5 Showcase, fans can tune in to watch the action live at 9pm BST on September 16. The event will be broadcast live on Twitch and YouTube.

The news was announced by Sony as part of a surprise blog on the PlayStation website earlier this week.

“Before PlayStation 5 launches this holiday, we wanted to give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!),” reads a Sony post.

“Our next digital showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.

“Tune in live on Twitch or YouTube this Wednesday, September 16 at 1pm PDT / 9pm BST / 10pm CEST to see what’s next for PS5.”

While fans are expecting fresh details on the price and release date, there’s a chance Sony will delay pre-orders until October 1. You can read all about that by .
