Sophie Countess of Wessex’s body language is ‘confident’ in marriage with ‘anxious’ Edward

Analysing a recent outing of the pair, the expert explained Sophie looked more comfortable in the limelight.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: “Edward’s smile is more of an unsure and unconfident smile of anxiety.

“He is a lot less comfortable than Sophie, especially when dealing with members of the press.”

The expert suggested that Sophie is happy to take the lead while Prince Edward will take a back seat.

“In the picture, Sophie has received a gift of flowers and her posture is solid and confident,” Darren continued.

“With Edward, we see this unconfident gesture of the arms brought forward protecting his abdomen area.

“Also we have the added non-verbal signal he is scrunching his shoulders in, people do this when they want to make themselves appear smaller.”

Since becoming the Countess of Wessex, Sophie seems to have taken to the role naturally and is even thought to have a close relationship with the Queen.

Commenting on another picture, Darren said they show genuine happiness to be in each other’s company when they are out together.

He added: “This is a great photo on many levels because it shows something called matching and mirroring.

“This is when we are in deep rapport with someone we literally match the other person’s posture and gestures.

“Sophie and Prince Edward are both exhibiting genuine smiles.”
