Last year, The Stranglers lost their longtime keyboardist and singer Dave Greenfield after a battle with COVID-19. Before he died, the 71-year-old recorded the majority of the band’s new album Dark Matters. And now the surviving members have shared the record’s first single and tribute to him in And If You Should See Dave…
The Stranglers bassist JJ Burnel said: “A year ago, on May 3rd my great friend and colleague of 45 years, Dave Greenfield, passed away, another victim of the pandemic.
“We had already recorded most of the album with him and during the lockdowns our only wish was to complete it as a fitting tribute to his life and work.
“I consider this to be one of our finest recordings.”
The band’s tribute single to Dave will be available to stream from Friday, May 14.
