If you can’t access Xbox Live tonight you are not alone. The popular online service appears to be having big issues this evening with thousands of fans unable to access the online platform. The problems appear to have begun at around 9pm with the issues ongoing.
Microsoft has just confirmed the outage with the firm’s status page showing major issues. A post on the server status reads, “You may not be able to sign-in to your Xbox profile.”
And that’s not all as there are also issues with Cloud gaming, Multiplayer gaming and Store and subscriptions.
Here’s the full list of issues:
Account and profile: You may not be able to sign-in to your Xbox profile, may be disconnected while signed in, or have other related problems. Features that require sign-in like most games, apps and social activity won’t be available.
Cloud gaming: You may have trouble starting cloud games or be unexpectedly disconnected from a game after it begins.
Multiplayer gaming: You may have problems joining multiplayer games, or finding other players.
Store and subscriptions: You may not be able to purchase games to own right now.
Even before Microsoft revealed that its servers were suffering from the outage Down Detector, which tracks outages and issues affecting online services from mentions across social media, had seen a huge surge in complaints about Xbox Live. At its peak, some 12,000 users alone have voiced concerns about the gaming platform.
It’s unclear how long the gremlins will take to fix but Xbox Live users certainly aren’t happy.
Speaking on Twitter one user vented: “@XboxSupport get it together no reason at all Xbox live should be down!”
Whilst another said: “Of course Xbox live would be down when I finally get some game time.”
And a disappointed Xbox fan tweeted: “Sweeeeeet Xbox live is down! Anddddd I haven’t updated fortnite on my ps5! My life has become a mess almost immediately!”
It seems that those who are not already signed in on their Xbox are worst affected by tonight’s glitch. Anyone attempting to switch on their consoles and get gaming will find an error message appears which limits access to certain services and apps.
Hopefully, it’s just a small blip, and Xbox Live services will be back to normal shortly.
