Kate, 53, spoke on Good Morning Britain as a guest on Tuesday in the lead up to her new documentary on ITV, Finding Derek. With her husband Derek, 53, still in the hospital a year after being admitted with coronavirus, the presenter addressed whether she would ever stand down from her role. However, she told hosts Ben Shephard, 46, and Susanna Reid, 50, that she will continue to be a face on morning television.

When asked by Ben if she would consider quitting, the broadcaster hit back at him as she said: “You can’t get rid of me that easily.

“I’m not going anywhere, Shephard,” she remarked in a light-hearted tone before she went on to discuss the idea of taking her job more seriously.

The mother-of-two explained: “Anyone who is facing a long term impact… the reality is ITV and Global radio has been so supportive.

“It’s a slice of normal and a slice of [life] before. Even though I think I have all of the answers, Derek doesn’t need me.

“What Derek needs is speciality medical support. They need expertise and I’m not an expert.”
