A Place in the Sun guest hits back at Jonnie Irwin after ‘noisy’ jibe: ‘Trying to say?’

Linda and Andy enlisted the help of A Place in the Sun’s Jonnie Irwin on Sunday’s all-new episode as they looked to settle down in Cyprus to enjoy their retirement. After careers working in the post office together, the two wanted a sun-soaked home to move in to with picturesque views and plenty of room for their motorbikes. Jonnie’s known for his cheeky jibes on the Channel 4 show but when he made a dig at the music-loving pair’s loudness, he was jokingly put in his place.

Linda and Andy made no secret of their desire for a spacious property in the Cypriot sunshine, with the latter a lover of motorbikes and the former possessing an extensive music collection.

In fact, Linda shocked Jonnie when she revealed she had a collection of 3,000-4,000 CDs she’d need to store.

With a budget of £120,000-125,000, the two were keen to land themselves at least a two-bedroom property that fitted the bill.

And the A Place in the Sun expert got off to a great start, especially with property number two.

After Linda and Andy ruled out the first property in the village of Tala, Jonnie took them to Tremithousa.

And the property received a much warmer reception, with both Linda and Andy saying it was the one to beat.

Currently being used as a holiday home, the spacious two-bedroom house came with a communal pool and two private terraces, as well as breathtaking views.

But when they decided to pay a visit to the pool, Jonnie and Andy couldn’t help a cheeky back and forth with one another.

“You get the huge benefit of having the pool right outside your house,” Jonnie told the two, prompting Linda to reply: “That is fabulous.”

However, Jonnie did want to give the couple a heads up about others using the pool, which led to him joking about the pair’s noisiness.

“Now, this is a communal pool,” he said. “Some of the full-time neighbours that are here, they have their own grandchildren that come.

“It’s not going to be the quietest pool some parts of the year, but you’re not going to be the quietest people hear yourselves, are you?”

Linda agreed with Jonnie before Andy hit back: “What you trying to say?!”

A rather sheepish Jonnie replied: “Just my thoughts,” before the trio shared a laugh at the exchange.

Despite their fondness of the second property, it was Jonnie’s third option which won them over, however.

Even though it was slightly over their budget, a three-bedroom property in Kissonerga was their only contender.
