Told through the eyes of the people who were there on the ground, Chris Burgard’s Capitol Punishment shows the world the true story of January 6, 2021 – a horrific event that Burgard believes was years in the making and a threat to the survival of America as we know it.

Award-winning actor Nick Searcy (The Shape of Water, Justified, MOoneyball, Cast Away, Runaway Jury, The Fugitive) teamed up with controversial and award-winning filmmaker Chris Burgard (The Ruining, Border, Honduras On the Brink) to help reveal the actual events that occurred on January 6, 2021 through a riveting documentary film, which according to Burgard, “stands as a testament to a day of infamy in American history…and a wake-up call to the most dangerous threat to Liberty and the United States of America in 246 years.”

“We were there. We lived the truth, then the media reported the lie. We couldn’t just sit there and watch history being rewritten,” Burgard told True Hollywood Talk. Burgard, who was raised in a law enforcement family, emphasized his respect for law enforcement – up and until he made this film.

“I was in Washington, D.C. on January 6th, and nothing the media said after that day matched up with anything I had personally witnessed,” Searcy told True Hollywood Talk. “That made me curious as to why they were lying about it.”

In what could be considered a controversial interview with True Hollywood Talk, Burgard and Searcy explain why viewers should watch this film from a human perspective, rather than a political one.

“I want viewers to see what our government is doing to decent, honorable Americans who went to DC on January 6th and did nothing wrong,” Searcy added. “I want them to see this film and decide for themselves if they think this is the way any American should be treated.”

Searcy, who acted in two previous western feature films this year – The Old Way, starring Nicolas Cage, and Terror on the Prairie, starring Gina Carano, adds to Searcy’s growing portfolio. “Those films were two of the best roles I have ever had in my thirty-year career,” Searcy says. “Once you stop being afraid of the leftist bullies in Hollywood and say what you think, without fear of them, good things will happen. In my case, both spiritually and financially. Hollywood has destroyed its credibility with a huge percentage of Americans.”

Interjecting, Burgard added his perspective about the misleading nature of the events of January 6 by the media.

“First, the media reported thousands of people were in attendance; we filmed over a million people,” Burgard shared.

Second, the media said that former U.S. President Donald Trump told people to storm the Capitol. They then re-edited his speech to falsely support that claim. Our film breaks this down.

Third, the media never reported that the Capitol was being breached before Trump had even finished his speech.

Fourth, at the end of Trump’s speech, we filmed the crowd dancing to the YMCA – not rushing to storm the Capitol.

Fifth, the media claimed it was an armed insurrection. Armed with what? Selfie sticks, flags, and iPhones? This was not an armed crowd.

Sixth, everywhere you went, people were praying for the country. Yet, those images were never broadcast.

Seventh, the media and Christopher Wray said there was no evidence that violent anarchist extremists like Antifa were present. They were. We filmed them. John Sullivan filmed himself.

Lastly, the worst attack on the Capitol since the Civil War? When the only person killed on January 6 was a 5’2” 110lb, unarmed woman?”

From an academic perspective, how would you encourage educational institutions to teach students about the events of January 6? What specific take-aways do you want viewers to take away from this film?

I would encourage institutions that this film should be required viewing for every classroom in America. I would like America to see what the weaponization of our government is doing to good people who have a differing political opinion from theirs and then ask themselves – is this fair?

I want America to meet the thirteen-year-old girl that the FBI dragged out in handcuffs into the cold. I want them to see the 4,7, and 12-year-old children who are suffering nightmares and struggling with PTSD after the tactical attacks on their homes.

I want them to hear from American citizens who were arrested and denied even a phone call to their lawyers and families after four to nine days in captivity.

At the end of the day, I want Americans to ask themselves, “how can this be happening in the United States of America?”

“Joseph Goebbels once said that if you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such a time as the State can shield people from the political, economic, and/or military consequences of the lie. It becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent. For the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy to the State. In America, the truth should be the greatest ally to the people and the State.”
