Cyberpunk 2077’s launch was a disaster, especially on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
While all versions of the open-world role-playing game have issues, the last-gen editions were particularly problematic.
In addition to game-breaking bugs, the PS4 and Xbox One versions had consistent performance issues that make for a scrappy experience.
Things were so bad on last-gen consoles that Sony pulled the game from PSN, while CD Projekt has agreed to issue refunds.
Fortunately, however, CD Projekt is working on some pretty major updates, beginning with “Patch #1” in January (which we’ll be referring to as update 1.07).
“After the holidays, we’ll continue working – we’ll release two large patches starting with Patch #1 in January,” reads a CD Projekt post.
“This will be followed by Patch #2 in February. Together these should fix the most prominent problems gamers are facing on last-ten consoles.”
Sadly, there’s no official release date for the update, although there are theories on Reddit and on sites like Game Infinitus that patch #1 will launch on January 15 or January 22.
Express Online has contacted CD Projekt for confirmation on the update’s release date.
This does kind of make sense given that two of the biggest Cyberpunk 2077 updates were released on the two Fridays directly following the game’s release.
CD Projekt has stated that while the updates won’t make the PS4 and Xbox One versions look like they’re running on high-spec PCs or next-gen consoles, the experience will be much closer than it is now.
The February update is also likely to coincide with the release of the first batch of free Cyberpunk 2077 DLC.
While the contents of the free DLC remain a mystery for now, the Cyberpunk website confirms that the content will be available in early 2021.
Cyberpunk 2077 is described as an open-world, action-adventure game set in the futuristic location of Night City.
“You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality,” reads the official description.
“You can customise your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.”
As the description suggests, different players will have a vastly altered experience based on their approach to gameplay.
That’s assuming you don’t run into one of the aforementioned game-breaking bugs and have to start again.
