Death in Paradise’s Josephine Jobert brands co-star a ‘diva’ as she teases season 10 drama

Josephine, 35, is best known to Death in Paradise viewers as Detective Sergeant Florence Cassell, who left the BBC drama in 2019. To mark the show’s 10th anniversary, the actress is returning to her former role and will star alongside Ralf Little, 40, who plays the new lead, Detective Inspector Neville Parker. However, in filming for the new episodes she has been reunited with JP Hooper star Tobi, 31, and the pair have been enjoying some tomfoolery whilst not on camera.

Both actors joined the show at the beginning of season four, with Tobi’s character developing romantic feelings for Florence.

Though, he eventually found love with his childhood sweetheart Rosey Fabrice (played by Fola Evans-Akingbola) and the pair tied-the-knot at the end of season five.

The Detective Sergeant and police officer remained friends, however, and it was emotional when they bid farewell to one another last year.

They will be reacquainted in season 10, with the details of what will happen to the characters being kept tightly under wraps.

Behind-the-scenes, the stars of the popular murder-mystery drama have been enjoying time away from their roles and have been jokingly toying with each other.

In a clip posted via the Story feature used on social media platform Instagram, Josephine is seen recording Tobi in the back of a car.

Noticing the camera was on him and his co-star’s 66,4000 followers would be watching, the actor jokingly told the actress: “What are you doing? I’ve got rights.”

Mimicking his complaint, the Florence star is then seen telling him: “You’re such a diva,” with Tobi laughing in the background.

This exchange was all made in jest, with both stars of the show enjoying some downtime from filming on the Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe.

The actresses alter-ego was last seen waving goodbye to DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) in 2019 after the death of her fiancé, Patrice Campbell (Leemore Marrett Jr).

Revealing why left the role, Josephine told her 27,8000 Twitter followers: “I quit the show for personal and professional reasons – nothing dramatic I swear!

“Everything is fine, it’s just that I’ve been working on Death in Paradise for five years… I loved every minute of it.

“I’m going to miss the show, I’m going to miss Tobi and Ardal and Shyko and everyone so it’s been a tough decision, but that’s life.”

Teasing what to come from Florence’s return to Saint Marie, a teaser for season 10 reads: “Neville soon realises he is existing in the Caribbean, rather than embracing life there.

“With Florence’s help, he determines to seize the day and finds himself starting to reveal some of his secrets – including of a romantic nature.

“But is Neville really built for a life in the tropics? And is a romantic relationship ever going to be possible for him?”

Could it be Josephine’s character is going to end up falling for her new boss?

Death in Paradise season 10 begins next year on BBC One.
