Camilla Parker Bowles‘ ring is also a family heirloom. It once belonged to the Queen Mother. It was said for a long time that this ring is the most valuable in the Royal Family, but new research disputes this.
Now, Princess Diana and Kate Middleton’s ring has trumped the Duchess of Cornwall’s.
A new study by jewellery retailers EST1897 has analysed the most expensive engagement rings of all time.
The research includes the most iconic royal rings, which have all been valued by a professional. How do they compare the jewellery of Kate and Meghan, Diana and Camilla and Pippa and Beatrice?
Lady Diana’s sapphire oval cut ring is also worth more than the one given to Prince Charles’ second wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
This means Kate’s ring is worth more than her sister-in-law Meghan Markle’s engagement ring.
What about the Monarch’s engagement ring?
Queen Elizabeth’s engagement ring is relatively understated and is valued at £125,500. Its a three-carat, old European cut centre stone which is surrounded by smaller diamonds.
Prince Phillip designed the ring himself, making use of diamonds taken from a tiara belonging to his mother, Princess Alice of Battenberg.
Taylor and Hart, which conducted the research, saw a 300 percent increase in requests for the iconic ring design since Sunday when the latest series went live – proving its popularity.
Kate Earlam Charnley, Design Director at Taylor and Hart commented: “From lavish tiaras to antique brooches, Emma Corrin’s performance has rekindled a love affair with one of our favourite ring designs–the iconic Diana, Princess of Wales blue sapphire engagement ring.”
