The valuation mentioned by Fiona happened in an episode of Antiques Roadshow earlier this year when Richard Price detailed how special a guest’s Rolex was.
He said of the watch: “No date, the reference 5513, an iconic watch and just before I ask you any questions, I’m going to tell you the reason why this thing became iconic.
“In the 1950s, it was developed and by the 1960s, Sean Connery wore an earlier example in the first Bond movie, Doctor No.”
The guest told Richard that his father was a search and rescue diver with the Royal Navy and always wore his Rolex watch.
