Power Book 2: Tommy Egan ‘to kill’ Monet after huge Joseph Sikora clue – here’s why

The first spin-off to Courtney Kemp’s hit series Power wrapped up with an exhilarating finale and the return of a familiar face, Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora). Guest star and mainstay of the original flagship series Sikora may have inadvertently spoiled the death of a major character when the Starz series returns for a second season.

Power star Joseph Sikora has suggested drug dealer Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige) could meet her demise in the second season of Book II: Ghost.

Monet was introduced in the series’ first follow-up as the new boss of Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), who has tried to balance his new partnership with his college studies in the new spin-off.

The queenpin is initially suspicious of Tariq, though he eventually becomes a crucial part of their rising drug empire by the end of season one.

When Book II comes back for a second season, Power star Joseph Sikora not only hinted at Tommy’s return, but also suggested he could be the one to take down Monet if she becomes too powerful.

However, the star also outlined a strict set of conditions that would have to be in place for Tommy to return outside his own spin-off, Book IV: Force.

The star gave his take on the series when he recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly to shed light on Tommy’s relationship with Tasha St. Patrick (Naturi Naughton).

He revealed: “The reality is that Tommy is a practicalist, so Tommy is not going to deal with Tasha unless Tasha becomes real competition for him or the biggest drug dealer in New York City.”

Reading between the lines, some fans have considered Sikora’s comments as a warning for Monet, who may need to brace herself for Tommy’s return in season two.

The star then praised Courtney Kemp for maintaining the show’s brutal and realistic take on the consequences and corruption of New York’s expansive drug scene.

He continued: “The reason that Tommy is alive is that we had a show about selling drugs, and not just selling drugs, but the consequences, the aftermath, the destruction.

“But ultimately you only had one character who started out wanting to sell drugs and finished wanting to sell drugs, and now that backdrop has outlasted the character.”

As Power Book II picked up right after Tariq was forced to kill his own father, Ghost (Omari Hardwick), Tommy comes to town when he learns Tasha pinned the murder on him.

Luckily, Tariq prevented Ghost’s former partner from taking his revenge, but he could take issue when Monet starts to encroach on his old territory.

Starz has already renewed Book II for a second season, with young actor Michael Rainey Jr. quickly proving he could carry the weight of his own series.

As the world of Power is set to expand even further this year, Tommy could make yet another dramatic return even sooner than fans might think.

Power Book II: Ghost is available to stream on Starzplay.
