PS5 is down for another great PlayStation 4 upgrade in 2021

Sony is reportedly planning on bringing another popular – if not slightly controversial – console exclusive to the PS5 this year, complete with next-gen upgrades.

As confirmed when the console first arrived, most PS4 titles are backwards-compatible and usually offering improved load times.

And while relying on your back-catalogue is a good strategy, fans are also hungry to test out their new consoles.

And this is where those recent PS5 upgrades can come in handy, with the likes of Warframe, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Genshin Impact making it possible to unlock betters specs and visuals.

And if recent reports are to be believed, Death Stranding could be the next console exclusive to make the jump.

At the moment, there aren’t many big exclusives on the PlayStation 5 platforms that have been given the upgrade treatment.

The big one is Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which has been available as a free upgrade since November 2020.

And new reports suggest that Death Stranding could be the next to get the PS5 upgrade, albeit, without the freebie part.

The latest is sourced from a user on Reset Era, who has shared that an extended version of Death Stranding will reportedly be announced soon.

This new version will offer improved specs using the PlayStation 5’s added power, and it will also come with added story content.

This extended version of the game will reportedly launch on PS4 as well, which could open up some crossplay capabilities.

So while this won’t be quite as simple as another free PS5 upgrade, next-gen console owners could be enticed to splash some cash on the Hideo Kojima project.

As with all rumours, this needs to be taken with a grain of salt as the information shared could prove to be out of date.

There’s always a chance this project may have been cancelled since it was first leaked, and gamers will need to keep a lookout for more clues in the coming weeks.

This is expected to be another first-party exclusive to offer a free PS5 upgrade to those who decide to switch consoles at a later date.

The first adventure proved very popular and the next could be another big seller for Sony.

The game description shares the latest on the setting of the sequel, revealing: “The land is dying. Vicious storms and an unstoppable blight ravage the scattered remnants of humanity, while fearsome new machines prowl their borders. Life on Earth is hurtling towards another extinction, and no one knows why.

“It’s up to Aloy to uncover the secrets behind these threats and restore order and balance to the world. Along the way, she must reunite with old friends, forge alliances with warring new factions and unravel the legacy of the ancient past – all the while trying to stay one step ahead of a seemingly undefeatable new enemy.”
