PS5 price and pre-order news ahead of PlayStation 5 release date reveal

Fans think they may have learnt more about the price before the big Sony reveal being held later this week. It’s unclear how much we will learn about the console, but gamers are hoping that the first PS5 pre-order details, as well as the release date will be announced in the coming days. Here’s the short announcement made by Sony earlier this month, confirming its plans to host a new PlayStation 5 showcase in September, telling fans: “Before PlayStation 5 launches this holiday, we wanted to give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!).

“Our next digital showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.

“Tune in live on Twitch or YouTube this Wednesday, September 16 at 1pm PDT / 9pm BST / 10pm CEST to see what’s next for PS5.”

No mention was made regarding the final price or release of the PlayStation 5, but time is running out for these details to be shared.

And now we know how much Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S are going to cost and when they will be hitting shelves, this would be the time to dish some secrets.

But as mentioned above, while we don’t know the cost of the PlayStation 5 yet, a new leak has surfaced that fans have been looking into.

This comes from a Swedish retailer and suggests that new consoles from Sony could be priced at €499 and €399.

Codenames are used in the console SKUs, meaning we don’t know exactly which product they are for.

Gamers should take this latest leak with a pinch of salt, with many analysts believing that the PS5 price will be different from the one listed above.

Fans are also hopeful that this week’s event will include details on when they will be able to pre-order the PlayStation 5.

Sony has announced some PS5 Pre-Order news for PlayStation fans, although it didn’t make great reading for everybody.

The tech giant has opened PS5 pre-order options to a small group of customers, and you can register your interest in being part of it right now.

“There will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order, so we will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to pre-order one from PlayStation,” a message from Sony explains.

“Pre-order reservations will be taken on a first-come-first-serve basis, so once you get an invite via email, we encourage you to follow instructions and act fast. Our selection is based on previous interests and PlayStation activities.”

Following on from the PS5 event announcement leakers have been teasing what they expect from the next PlayStation 5 event.

Twitter user Tidux posted: “Price, Date, Games.”

While @Jace_Skell wrote: “Jaw Drops from the new unrevealed games I read on the list. Expect no teardown but some UI glimpses, around 45min showcase”.

The confirmation of the upcoming PS5 event comes after Express.co.uk previously reported that a PS5 event had been rumoured to take place in September.
