Sky TV reveals something new to try with your Sky Q remote

Most Sky Q users are well aware of what the clever remote control that comes bundled with this set-top box is capable of. Along with whizzing around the home screen, pumping up the volume and setting records, this neat channel changer is fully compatible with voice search. This allows owners to announce simple commands with their Sky box then leaping into action and doing exactly what it’s told.

For example, you can say “BBC 1” and the channel will instantly change or “Go to recordings” to find everything that’s stored on the box.

There are hundreds of things that work via voice search and Sky has now added a little festive treat to boost things even further.

According to recent research, the classic Elf movie has been named UK’s favourite Christmas film. Sky has just added this festive movie to its library and to celebrate its arrival you can now use some fun voice commands to find and play it.

From today Sky Q users can easily quote iconic lines such as “Santa, I know him” and “I am a cotton-headed ninny muggins” into their Sky Q voice remote and the movie will appear on the screen for you to watch.
