Call of Duty Warzone update today: Bad news for FFAR and AUG in COD patch notes

Raven Software has released a surprise Call of Duty Warzone update today which looks to shake up the current game meta.

It’s been a while since a big weapon tuning patch was released, but it appears that’s all changed today.

And with it, we imagine the current meta dominated by the FFAR and AUG might also look different in the days ahead.

The FFAR has cemented its place as the weapon of choice in 2021, having seen other rivals nerfed before it.

The FFAR makes for a formidable setup, providing both quick downs at both mid and close range.

However, today’s change is looking to change that and make it less efficient in sweat up close gunfights.

Based on the information listed in today’s Warzone patch notes, The FFAR ADS Speed has been dropped.

This should make it less viable against SMGs at close range, providing a gateway for the Mac-10 to become top-dog again.

What will be interesting is whether the new changes to some of the game’s attachments negates these nerfs.

Raven Software has boosted the ADS Speed on Rear Grip Attachments which might have listed such benefits but not actually delivered them.

The other big change today concerns the AUG, which is another gun that’s become a dominating force within Warzone.

Raven has made it harder to handle the AUG, which should reduce its efficiency over long distances.

This shouldn’t affect the pros when it comes to the AUG, but it will probably frustrate a few of the more casual gamers who will no longer hit the target quite so much.

The full patch notes have been released for today’s Call of Duty Warzone update and can be found in the image below.

Problems with the Raven Software site has made it difficult to list them in the usual text format.

And for those who might not agree with today’s Warzone changes, there’s probably going to be plenty of more tweaks coming soon.

While this Warzone update only deals with bugs and weapon-tuning, a much bigger one is on the horizon.

Season 3 is going to be released around April 22, and that will mean big map changes and a new Battle Pass to play.

It will also give Raven Software the perfect opportunity to release new weapons and perhaps even remove a few.

We also know that another update is coming this week for both Cold War and Warzone, which will add a new weapon and Operator to the game.

Details for both can be found listed below:

    RIVAS OPERATOR

Karla Rivas grew up in Nicaragua surrounded by the Menendez Cartel and their ceaseless wars with rival gangs. Her firsthand experience of the consequences of these wars on the surrounding communities drove her to action against the Cartel’s influence, using guerilla tactics to weaken them by any means necessary. Her skills are unparalleled in the continuing search for Adler.

Get access to Terrell Wolf and Karla Rivas for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone as part of separate Store Bundles in Season Two Reloaded.

    ZRG 20MM SNIPER

Boasting a higher bullet velocity than any other weapon in its class, the ZRG 20mm sniper rifle is built to excel in extremely long ranges. Operators will appreciate its fast reload speed and its ability to eliminate enemies with a single shot to the head, chest, or shoulders.

Unlock the ZRG 20mm by completing its in-game challenge or by acquiring the “Jackpot Sniper” bundle, featuring a Legendary new sniper rifle Weapon Blueprint.
