died at home in Graceland on August 16, 1977. His funeral took place two days later, but on August 17, fans queued up for his body viewing. One eyewitness present was June Walden, who was captured on film being carried inside after fainting.

Now in a new interview with Elvis expert Billy Stallings Spa Guy on his YouTube channel, June recounted her fainting and viewing Elvis’ body.

She revealed how it was “a very hot, blistering day” and how she’d been standing in line with hundreds of people to see The King’s coffin.

Accompanied by her friend Ted, June told him she wasn’t feeling too well.

She said: “The next thing I knew, I fainted.”

Elvis was just 42-years-old when he died of a heart attack on the toilet.

In his last few years, The King had become very overweight and addicted to prescription drugs.

From 1974-1976, Elvis performed almost 400 concerts, but sadly he was struggling to keep up his energy.

Uppers to get him energised for evening shows and downers to help him sleep through the day, The King was not in good shape and getting worse.

Speaking in Sky documentary Elvis: The Searcher, Rock and Roll writer Nik Cohn said: “Night by night it became harder for him to carry on being Elvis. Drugs and self-destructiveness were all punishments.”

Yet Elvis would still get great satisfaction out of entertaining his legions of fans.

Cohn added: “He was in great pain and yet he would give so much pleasure.

“He would go off stage and collapse and the audience would go out…joyous; spiritually blessed.”
