PS5 update: Download a surprise PlayStation game today

PS5 console owners have another exciting game they can add to their digital libraries this week, straight from the PlayStation Store.

And unlike other surprise additions, this one isn’t a limited time deal, meaning it’s going to be available to download beyond today, and November 2020.

And while there are still tons of PS4 gamers waiting to upgrade, there’s going to be plenty of optimised titles waiting for them.

The latest addition to the PS5 download list is Warframe, the popular free-to-play shooter with plenty of different modes and frames to enjoy.

Having originally launched on PC in 2013 with a limited amount of content, things are very different in 2020.

Not only can gamers enjoy Warframe without splashing the cash, they can also collect a ton of different character frames, each boasting their own abilities.

And a big thing to notes is that this is the special PS5 version of Warframe, meaning it comes with some great next-gen features.

Warframe on PlayStation 5 will offer a different experience to the current PS4 version, with the development team aiming for the game to run at up to 4k resolution and 60 FPS. Other next-gen features include improved loading times across the entire game, thanks to the PS5’s solid-state drive.

A message from Digital Extremes adds: “Warframe now has three open worlds that have never looked better or loaded faster.

“Our enhanced renderer really shines here, bringing dynamic lighting that makes each world more immersive than ever before.

“And now that we’re building content from the start to take advantage of this technology we can’t wait for you to experience our next open world, The Duviri Paradox, on PlayStation 5.

“When we launch on PS5 you’ll have 44 Warframes to master, each available for free with their own distinct abilities and play styles.

“But I’m especially proud of Xaku, our 44th and most recent Warframe released this fall, because they are also the second built from the ground up by our community.”

Another bonus has also been announced, with a special PS Plus free games pack being released for PlayStation 5 gamers.

The PlayStation Plus Booster Pack V will be available to those gamers who have an active subscription, bringing with it a bundle of useful items.

These packs are released for free games on PlayStation consoles as a bonus to those who have a PlayStation Plus subscription – Warframe doesn’t require this to play.

Digital Extremes says the new pack features everything you need to kickstart your journey, including a PS5-themed Obsidian Sedai Syandana; a 7-Day Affinity Booster; a 7-Day Credit Booster; 100,000 Credits; and 100 Platinum.

Warframe isn’t the only big PS5 release this week, with Worms Rumble going live in December.

This will be available across both PS4 and PS5 consoles, with the new arena shooter part of the PS Plus December lineup.

The official description reads: “This is Worms like you’ve never played it before, with intense, real-time, arena-based 32-player cross-platform combat!

“Use a variety of fan-favourite weapons like the Bazooka and Shotgun plus all-new additions to the armoury to bring the pain to your invertebrate opponents as you climb the ranks.

“Customise your worm, then take part in seasonal events, daily challenges and community collaborations for additional XP and rewards, and experimental game modes in The Lab. Get ready for Deathmatch and Battle Royale where you’re only ever a Holy Hand Grenade away from death.”
