The cast and crew of Queen of the South have been treating fans to a number of sneak peeks behind the scenes in recent weeks after they all returned to filming on the USA Network drama. As well as a Teresa (played by Alice Braga) and James (Peter Gadiot) reunion confirmed by the latter actor’s return to set, several stars including Molly Burnett and Hemky Madera have been sharing photos via social media of what fans can expect.
However, while Queen of the South fans know who to expect in season five, they’re still none the wiser as to when they can expect to see them on-screen.
After all, like so many TV productions across the globe, production on the USA Network show suffered as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
This means filming was pushed back a number of months, with it now being 15 months since season four came to its explosive close.
But the return finally looks in sight after co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez confirmed the first two episodes are all but wrapped up.
However, Dailyn didn’t give any new update on when these first two episodes could be making their way to screens.
But the update is encouraging nonetheless, with it looking like the season five openers are almost completed.
In fact, earlier this month, one fan asked the Queen of the South showrunner if she had any clues as to when season five could premiere.
“Zero idea,” she replied, putting any speculation to bed.
But when Queen of the South does return, it looks like plenty of drama is on its way.
Not least thanks to the fact James will be back in Teresa’s life after spending most of the fourth season out fo the picture.
James was last seen bleeding out in Teresa’s arms in the season four finale.
But will the pair get their happy ending or will the extent of James’ injury and the reasons behind it prove too deadly?
Queen of the South seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix UK now.
