Lucifer season 5b: Lucifer goes missing as new footage of Chloe Decker drops on Twitter

Some brand new footage of Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German) has teased how the second half of Lucifer season five will kick off.

The show’s official Twitter page has jumped on the current ‘’fancam’ phenomenon sweeping social media, in which clips of favourite characters are used for a video tribute.

Chloe’s montage featured some of her best moments from season four, including the moment fans were waiting for when the detective finally hooked up with her devilish partner, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis).

Some eagle-eyed fans noticed the final clip, featuring Chloe walking through the LAPD precinct, was actually new footage from an upcoming episode.

Co-showrunner Joe Henderson also confirmed when he tweeted: “Why, that almost looks like new footage at the end…”

Season 5b’s midseason premiere should pick up after episode eight, where Lucifer and his twin brother Michael went head-to-head as time around them was frozen.

As the new clip of Chloe starts when a glass window suddenly shatters to the floor, it’s safe to assume the next episode will kick off with the precinct finally feeling the effects of the brothers’ destructive brawl.

However, one key component seems to be missing from the upcoming adventure: Lucifer himself.

Fans were ecstatic when the new footage was posted, as sightings of Lauren German on set of the new episodes have been few and far between.

Hopefully the new clip doesn’t indicate Lucifer and Chloe will be apart for most of the new season, however, especially after their painful separation after the events of season four.

Viewers were quick to respond to the new clip with comments and retweets, which naturally included the usual stream of speculation and theories.

One fan said: “Happy that Chloe is unfrozen, but Chloe searching for Lucifer and being afraid what might have happened to him that he left hurts!”

While another responded to the new footage: “OMG I DIED WITH THAT LAST CLIP!!!”

“Chloe looking for Lucifer… of course that’s how it’s going to go. I’M NOT OKAY.”

Fox and Netflix’s fantasy drama series has toyed with fans’ emotions before, but the midseason premiere of Lucifer’s fifth season could be the most devastating episode yet.

Lucifer Season 5, Part 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
