BT finally offers what millions of broadband customers have been asking for

BT has just announced the release of some new broadband plans and they might be just what many have been waiting for. If you’ve recently signed up for a new contract you’ll probably be well aware that most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) require you to stay put for at least 18-24 months.

That’s not a problem if you think you’ll be happy sticking with your supplier or have no plans to move home or to a completely new location.

However, if you are one of the millions who are renting or simply don’t want to be locked into a 24-month contract the options can be extremely limited.

BT has clearly realised that some users simply want more flexibility and have just launched a range of 12-month options.

BT says the shorter plans are available to new customers and are perfect for renters, or those looking to move who may not want to commit to a 24-month plan. The 12-month contract option is available across BT’s Broadband, Superfast Fibre and its latest Full Fibre packages which bring faster speeds right into homes.

This is a welcome update from BT but there is a catch.

Although you won’t have to sign up for such a long period you will find your monthly bills are slightly more expensive.

For example, on a 12-month contract, you’ll pay £31.99 per month for BT’s Fibre Essential plan, that’s compared to £27.99 per month on a 24-month contract.

BT’s faster Fibre 2 plan costs £36.99 if you just want it just for a year, that’s compared to £32.99 if you sign up for two years.

Here’s the full pricing for 12-month plans.

Broadband £29.99
Fibre Essential £31.99
Fibre 1 £32.99
Fibre 2 £36.99
Fibre 100 £44.99
Fibre 250 £54.99
Full Fibre 100 £44.99
Full Fibre 300 £54.99
Full Fibre 900 £64.99
Hybrid Connect – additional £7 per month
Complete WiFi – additional £10 per month

Along with these new broadband plans, BT has also just announced the launch of its new TV set-top box which brings a much-improved way of tuning into your nightly telly binge.

BT’s TV Box Pro allows users to watch content in 4K HDR quality. That not only means everything looks pin-sharp but also packed with greater detail.

Along with that improved picture quality, this new Pro box offers Dolby Atmos – offering the best immersive audio experience.

Other features include four tuners which allow users to record three shows whilst watching a fourth and there’s 1TB of storage which should mean around 600 hours of content can be kept on the box
