Elvis Presley: Lisa Marie on Graceland’s upstairs being ‘the ONE place I feel safest’

only had one child in his daughter Lisa Marie. She grew up with her father and mother Priscilla at Graceland until their separation in 1972. While Lisa Marie would live with her mother, the rest of time she had her room next to Elvis’ bedroom in Graceland’s upstairs.

Since Graceland opened to the public in 1982, the upstairs has been off-limits.

The main reason being that it was Elvis’ private space, even during his lifetime.

Upstairs at Graceland is Elvis’ bedroom, his office and dressing area, plus Lisa Marie’s room.

In a recently unearthed interview on Lorraine, the now 52-year-old was asked if Graceland’s upstairs was a place of solace for her.

Angie said in a live Instagram Q&A: “One of Lisa’s favourite things to do here is to actually share with her kids and her friends her memories of Graceland.

“And do things that Elvis and her used to do like ride golf carts or see the horses and things like that.”

“But they do come quite often. This is still her home.”

While later on in the video, another fan asked if the kitchen appliances still worked.

Angie said: “Yes the kitchen appliances do work.

“They’re turned off for fire safety, but they do still work.

“And when Lisa Marie and her family are here we fire them up.

“And sometimes they’ll have dinner here in the mansion.”
