Google Chrome is about to get even faster on Windows 10 and macOS

Outlining the feature in a support document Google said: “Back-forward cache is a browser feature which improves the user experience by keeping a page alive after the user navigates away from it and reuses it for session history navigation (browser back/forward buttons, history.back(), etc) to make the navigation instant. The pages in the cache are frozen and do not run any javascript”.

Windows Latest reported that Google will begin rolling out this feature with Chrome 92.

The ‘experimental rollout’ of the feature will start with that build before being released to more users in the following months.

Google went on to add: “We already shipped this feature for Android. We want to start experimenting with back-forward cache on desktop environments”.

It’s unclear whether the feature will be enabled for all Chrome users, but those interested in the new time-saving tool will be able to enable it manually via Chrome flags.
