Having issues with Facebook Dark Mode on iOS? Here's how to fix new bug

Facebook users may have been left with a sinking feeling of deja vu this week. Towards the start of the month, Facebook fans on Android suddenly saw the app’s Dark Mode feature disappear, before the issue was rectified without any confirmation from Facebook. And this gremlin has cropped up once again this week, this time around affecting both Android and iOS.

But the recent issue seems to be far more widespread, with Google recording a huge spike in Facebook Dark Mode searches.

When the issue hit on Wednesday confused Facebook users took to Twitter to report Dark Mode suddenly disappearing from their app.

One tweeted: “Where did my dark mode go @Facebook ??”

While another posted: “Dark mode has vanished from the iOS Facebook app. My eyes… MY EYES!!”

One added: “Facebook dark mode looks to be gone. Blinding white screen.”

And another wrote: “FACEBOOK REMOVED THE DARK MODE FEATURE AND MY EYES CAN’T TAKE IT”.

After a number of hours of the feature being offline Facebook confirmed that Dark Mode was back and up and running on Android.

Speaking to Tom’s Guide, a rep for the social networking giant said: “We have restored service for those who experienced a technical issue that caused some people to have trouble accessing certain features on Facebook’s Android app”.

There have, however, been some lingering reports that Dark Mode is still not appearing for Facebook iOS users.

If you’re still affected by the problem then Techradar has figured out a fix.

To start with, uninstall the Facebook iOS app and then redownload it from the Apple App Store.

If this doesn’t resolve the problem and you still can’t access Dark Mode on your iPhone then force quit the app.

To do this, while the app is open slide your finger up from the bottom of the screen slightly and then release.

Then, swipe up on the app so it disappears from your screen.

You will then have to go to your iPhone settings and head to the app section.

Select Facebook and then make sure ‘Upload HD video’ and ‘Upload HD photos’ is turned on.

While these might not be the obvious settings to turn on to rectify the problem, it has reportedly fixed the issue on iPhone.
