PS5 price won’t include big Xbox Series X feature, according to new leak

Currently, we only have leaks and rumours providing guidance on what the PS5 price will be when the release date rolls around in late 2020.

But other news has started trickling in regarding what that price point will, and won’t include on the PlayStation 5.

One such update includes a third-party partner website listing certain information regarding what the new Sony gaming machine can do.

Screenshots have started circulating from a Ubisoft Support Page that lists news regarding PS5 Backwards Compatibility.

This includes a statement that suggests PS4 games will be backwards compatible on the PS5, as stated previously by Sony.

But it also reportedly confirms that games from the PS3, PS3 and PS1 will not be available to play on the PlayStation 5.

This statement can no longer be found on the Ubisoft Support Page, but screenshots from the original read as follows:

“Backwards Compatibility will be available for supported PlayStation 4 titles, but will not be possible for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, or PlayStation games.”

It should be noted that Sony has not shared its own statement on the situation, and therefore, this should be taken with a pinch of salt for the time being.

If it does turn out to be accurate, it means that the Xbox Series X will include a feature not available on the PS5.

And for some with a big back-catalogue of games, it could have an effect on what new console to buy.

Microsoft’s Xbox Series X is expected to run games from the original Xbox, the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One, with a recent statement from the company revealing:

These hints of upcoming PS5 news come as an alleged leak has emerged on 4chan claiming the next PS5 event will be taking place on September 9.

While the notorious online message board has been the home to numerous fake leaks, it also has been where a number of legitimate leaks have emerged – such as details on Pokemon Let’s Go for the Nintendo Switch being leaked early.

This latest alleged leak claimed that the September 9 PS5 event would reveal details on the PS5 hardware, features, UI as well as the release date and price.
