Samsung’s Android 11 update ahead of schedule : is your phone getting upgraded early?

1058

Samsung is on a mission to get most of its smartphone line-up upgraded to its Android 11-based One UI 3.0 software. The big rollout began late last year with the flagship Galaxy S20 first in the queue to get the new software changes, which include a less cluttered user interface, quick ways to see how much time you’re spending on your phone, and improvements to your messages notifications.

Since then, plenty more of Samsung’s phones have seen One UI 3.0 arrive in the settings menu, including the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S10. Things have been ticking along so well that Samsung is now almost a month ahead of its original schedule, with the pace continuing to pick up.

And so, now it’s the turn of the mid-range phones to get treated to this feature-packed update with some owners of the Galaxy A50 starting to see the changes. This news was spotted by the eagle-eyed team and SamMobile and actually shows that Samsung is well ahead of schedule as these phones weren’t expected to get One UI 3.0 until next month.

The A50 is a hugely popular device so this is a very welcome update for the millions of people that own one. Back in 2019, the A50 was the third best selling phone in the world coming just behind iPhone 11 and XR.

The rollout of One UI 3.0 to these devices is likely to be staggered but, if you own an A50 it’s worth checking your system settings to see if it’s available to download.

Along with that phone, Samsung has also confirmed that during this it will rollout One UI 3.0 to a bunch of phones including the Galaxy Note 10 Lite and Galaxy A51. The Galaxy Tab S7 tablet also looks set to get this software boost in the coming weeks as well.

HERE’S THE FULL LIST

• Samsung Galaxy Tab S7

• Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite

It’s easy to check if your device is ready to be upgraded. Simply go to Settings > Software Update. Then check to see if One UI 3.0 is available. If it appears, select the update and tap Download and Install.

Speaking about One UI 3.0, Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications, said: “The launch of One UI 3 is just the beginning of our commitment to offering Galaxy consumers the best mobile experiences possible by giving them access to the latest OS innovation, as soon as it’s available.

“One UI 3 represents an integral part of our mission to continually create new innovative and intuitive experiences for our consumers throughout their device lifecycle. So when you have a Galaxy device, you have a gateway to new, unimagined experiences for years to come.”
